The Night Works
sound system photographs by Guy Atkinson

Preview Friday 5th March 5.30-8.00pm
Exhibition 6th March - 14th April 2010

Guy Atkinson says, "This work is originally from a project titled “Sheffield Sound”; it is a selection of images from over a year of photographing at underground night club and music events in Sheffield. I have worked with various local promoters and Soundsystems with the aim of capturing the essence of what makes the Sheffield scene so exciting and vibrant. For many, running events in Sheffield has truly become a labour of love and they feel part of a great community of likeminded people who work with a do it yourself ethos. The events remain uncommercial and range in size from a handful attendees to many hundreds.
These images reflect what I see when I go to an event, the moments in time that stand out, that make the Sheffield scene at once the same and yet completely different from anywhere else."
